# Staking new claims — the claims door

> Lay out or upload a claim block on your project map — geoDB handles staking, location notices and filing.

Don't have claims yet — or adding more ground? The **claims door** turns a
layout on your project map into a filed claim block without leaving geoDB.

## Three ways in

- **Lay it out.** The claim layout toolbench places standard 600′ × 1500′
lode claims you can move, rotate, snap and rename until the layout is
right, then save as a block. Turn on the land layers — claim density,
PLSS sections, land status — to see what ground is open while you work.
- **Upload it.** Already laid out in other software? Upload the file
(KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, GeoPackage or a zipped shapefile) and each polygon
  becomes a proposed claim.
- **Ask us.** Rather we did the layout? The request form takes the area,
roughly how many claims and anything we should know; our claims team
plans it and quotes you first.

Either way, the claims land as a **claim block** — a named batch like
"Bear Creek Phase 1" — on your own project.

## What a claim block is

A block is the unit our staking service works in: your proposal, then one
package of staking, location notices, county recording and BLM filing.
You'll get an email when the block is created and as it moves; the **claim
blocks page** shows every block's status and its claims.

## What happens next

Our claims team reviews every block before anything is staked — checking
the layout against land status, ownership and terrain, and producing the
authoritative claim geometry for filing. Your uploaded or laid-out layout
is the proposal; the reviewed version is what gets staked on the ground and
filed. Pricing and invoicing are confirmed with you before work begins.
