# Inviting your team

> Invites, roles and what each person can see and touch.

Source: https://geodb.io/guide/topic/inviting_team/ · Category: Getting set up
geoDB is built for teams — loggers at the core shack, a database manager,
consultants, investors peeking at a dataroom. Access is by invitation, and
what each person can do is set by their role.

## Sending an invite

From the **company page**, enter an email address, pick a role, and send.
New people get an email link to create their account; existing geoDB users
get the company added to their switcher. You can scope someone to the
whole company or to specific projects only.

## Roles, in plain terms

- **Owner / manager** — run the company: billing, members, everything below.
- **Admin** — full data control on their projects: create, edit, delete,
  configure.
- **Contributor** — can add records and edit the records they created —
right for loggers and field crews; they can't alter anyone else's data.
- **Viewer** — read-only. Right for investors, JV partners and reviewers.

## What an invited person sees

Only what they're given: the companies and projects on their invite, and
nothing else. A viewer sees the same dashboard, maps and data pages you
do — minus every edit button. If you're the one who was *invited* and
you're reading this: the guide's collaborator path (on the guide home
page) walks you through your first look around.

## Contractors

Drilling contractors deserve a narrower window — there's a dedicated
contractor role in drill program monitoring that shows a contractor only
their own rigs and shift reports. That's covered in the *Running your
program* topic.
