How Geodb.io Works
Geodb.io is built around a simple yet flexible structure. At the core, we have companies. Each company has a subscription, and the type of subscription determines how many projects that company can create. Think of projects as individual workspaces under a company—each one tailored to specific goals or datasets, all tied together under the company umbrella.
Understanding the Data Structure
Geodb.io is a relational database solution designed with one key principle in mind: no data loss. Every piece of relevant information tied to mineral exploration—whether it’s assay data, quality control samples, or field observations—is captured, organized, and available instantly when you need it. Here’s how the data is structured:
- Company-Level Data: Some data is defined at the company level and shared across all projects. This includes things like laboratories, methods, standards, and key definitions such as land holding types and quality control types (QC types). This shared foundation ensures consistency and efficiency across your projects.
- Project-Level Data: The rest of the data is unique to each project, giving you the flexibility to tailor datasets and workflows to the specific needs of that project.
Getting Started
To jump in, you’ve got two options:
- Head over to your ‘My Account’ page. There, you can check if you’ve received any invitations to collaborate on existing projects or companies. It’s a great way to join a team and get started!
- If you’ve got your own company or projects in mind, why not create your own company? This lets you set up your subscription, define your shared data, and start adding project-specific data to build something amazing from scratch.
Once you’ve created a company and a project, the real fun begins! Start by setting some key definitions:
- Add a laboratory and methods if you want to input assay data.
- Define standards if you’re working with quality control samples.
- Set up lithology and alteration types for logging drill core and collecting field data.
With these data definitions in place, you’re ready to incorporate the exciting information that fuels discovery—turning raw data into actionable insights for mineral exploration. Whether you’re joining a team or starting your own journey, we’re here to help you make the most of Geodb.io. Let’s get going!
